Position: Associate Projection Designer

(Re)current Unrest is a performance installation piece that explores concepts that speak to our current moment. This piece talks about subjects such as the “American Dream,” the 2020 political climate, cultural appropriation, racism, police brutality, and the Black Lives Matter protests. All of these topics are presented through the lens of erasure of the Africanist presence present in composer Steve Reich’s three early works, It’s Gonna Rain (parts 1 and 2), Come Out, and Pendulum. It also explores the state of unrest and the idea of “staying woke.”

This iteration of the piece, which has been developed and performed over the past two years, was presented as a live stream, in accordance with COVID-19 safety guidelines.
