Copenhagen reimagines a discussion between scientists Neils Bohr and Werner Heisenberg, and Neils’ wife Margrethe Bohr, regarding a mysterious meeting in Copenhagen between the two scientists in 1941. Throughout the play, the three characters exist in a type of limbo as they discuss what could have occurred during this mysterious meeting, including the creation of the atomic bomb. These conversations are interspersed with flashbacks to early 1940s Copenhagen to illustrate particularly important moments leading up to the fateful meeting.
